I know, I was skeptical too. I always am when I hear that some specific technique is producing top rankings in Google. But this one works. For REAL.
The concept is pretty simple actually. You hold a Google Hangout (kind of like Skype meets GotoMeeting) which Google automatically posts to Youtube. You can create a PowerPoint and share your screen as the Hangout, or record yourself in a video just talking. It streams live and you can’t edit it, so that is a challenge. But Google is giving these Hangout “videos” a lot of cred in the ranking results. So if you make sure to use the keywords you want to rank for in the title and description of the Hangout they will become the title and description of the video on Youtube and the information listed in the ranking results on Google.
It is best if you then post the video (embed it if possible) in a few places on the web. You can post it to your website, blogs, Tumblr, Facebook, LinkedIn, wherever possible to spread the love. If this already sounds confusing please stick with me. I am going to try to be as broad here as possible so you get the gist of the amazing results this process is producing. Then, if you want more technical details, just reach out to me.
I learned about this technique from a company that has software that makes the process a little easier, but there are still many complicated steps involved. Syncing your Google+ business page, Youtube and the software is not a user-friendly experience. Their software is called Hangout DareDevil and is a widget that works with Google Hangouts. It allows you to automatically post the video in many of the locations I mentioned above to save you some time. It is $500 for the software and there are other cheaper tools out there, but this is what we are using.
What you probably want to see are some results..so here you go.
The first Google Hangout we did was for Solstice Digital. I don’t like to try anything brand new that I haven’t tested first. Our primary keyword for this test was “best SEO company in NJ” and the secondary was “local SEO company in NJ.” At the time of this post, the video we created using Google Hangout is ranked #1 for “best SEO company in NJ” and #5 for “local SEO company in NJ.” In the Google Video search, we are #1 for both. On Youtube, we are also #1.
With this success under our belt, Solstice Digital went on to provide this new SEO service for a client, Romanowsky Law on April 18, 2014. Our focus for rankings here were the keywords “nj physician employment agreements,” “nj physician employment agreement lawyer,” “nj healthcare lawyer” and “physician employment agreements.” The results within 2 weeks and as of the publish date of this blog are as follows:
Last week we performed this tactic for another client, Whelan Law. There was one focused keyword, “middlesex county personal injury attorney.” As of now, the video is coming up #8 on Google Video search results and #2 on Youtube. Now we wait and see if it climbs in the regular SERPs.
Pretty neat stuff, right? The question is, would this work for your business? Chances are, yes. The test cases I explained here are from extremely competitive industries when it comes to Google rankings. The biggest challenge is deciding what to do in Google Hangout to create your video, and deciding on keywords with which you will have a chance of breaking into the rankings.
You might think I am crazy for disclosing this, but I will be honest with you. It is a fair amount of work. So I am hoping that you will think it sounds great and either tell your friends and/or ask me if Solstice Digital can do it for you too. There, my ulterior motive is revealed!
So are you ready to give it a shot? If you want to try it on your own, or are looking for someone to do it for you, give us a call at 908-444-6230 or drop me a line at [email protected].
